Citizens Police Academy

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE ACADEMY?

The Citizens Public Safety Services Academy is an interactive program between citizens, the police and fire department. Education, Understanding, Cooperation and Communication are the four core concepts of the program. This program allows citizens, police and fire fighters to meet in a positive and proactive setting, sharing ideas and information. The academy creates a growing nucleus of responsible, well-informed citizens with the potential of influencing public opinion regarding police and fire fighter practices and services.

WHO CAN ATTEND THE CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY?

Citizens 18 - 99+ years of age who live or work in the City of Hilliard or Hilliard City School District are welcome to attend. Whether you are an architect, baker, homemaker, student, retiree, teacher, neighborhood group or other professional, all citizens should have a vested interest in our community.

WHAT IS THE CURRICULUM LIKE?

The curriculum uses interactive teaching methods that will provide information to gain insight into police and fire careers. Don't worry, we won't have you running laps or performing drills and there won't be a test at the end.  Students WILL NOT be certified as police officers or fire fighters.
